Born in Brooklyn in 1951, Robert Kapust took a personal interest in visual health and fitness at a very early age.  Actively participating in aggressive sports such as football, basketball, tennis and hockey, he witnessed various sports injuries, including vision damage.  His concern peaked however, when a friend's mother was blinded and later another friend's surgery resulted in a paralyzed eye.

Having earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Buffalo in 1972, Kapust immediately moved to Southern California to pursue studies in optometric science.  In 1973, he entered the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton; and in 1975, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in visual science.  Two years later, following extensive training, he became a licensed and certified Doctor of Optometry.

Emphasizing prevention as the key to effective eye care, Dr. Kapust specializes in vision improvement using state-of-the-art corrective techniques.  An expert in the application if orthokeratology, Dr. Kapust reduces and often eliminates nearsightedness without the use of glasses.  In addition, Dr. Kapust prescribes vitamins and minerals for the prevention and treatment of cataracts; and "Visual Therapy," eye exercises designed to improve blurred vision due to close work and tired, weak muscles.  Many of Dr. Kapust's treatments have proven successful in the relief of eye strain, one of his areas of particular interest.  An authority on the problem of "Computer user Eye Strain," Dr. Kapust has published several articles on this topic.
